WE GOT A LIGHT INSIDE THE MOUNTAIN MOVERS

This is an out-take from The Day Calls Out for You sessions that did not make the new record. It is called “We Got A Light Inside”.

“I have spent a lot of time with The Day Calls Out for You, and think that it is the strongest Mountain Movers release yet. Anyone familiar with Dan Greene’s songwriting, either from The Mountain Movers Safety Meeting Records releases, or from his songs with the legendary Butterflies of Love, will once again find his always confident melodies, hazy vocals, and his mostly sunny though sometimes heavy religious/spiritual journeyman subject matter. The difference is the new version of The Mountain Movers - a stripped-down, fuzzed-out, 2 guitar, recorded on tape amalgam of some seriously psychedelic waves/sunbeams.”

New UK Review

This London based blog called Fire Escape Talking did a little review of our new record.

“For their third album, The Day Calls Out For You, The Mountain Movers have stripped it right down. The sun-kissed pop and horn-driven soul of debut album We’ve Walked In Hell has been shown the door to reveal a bare-boned band that’s taken the ragged narcotic haze of their second outing, Let’s Open Up The Chest, and made it rougher, hazier and looser. And, yes, this time round The Mountain Movers have hit the bullseye again.

Campfire country and semi-conscious psychedelia swap notes with the same deceptively drowsy drawl of Neil Young’s Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, and the sweetest slacker rock is fired by the sort of compulsive noise that J Mascis makes at the top of his game.

Recorded pretty much live to two-inch tape, The Day Calls Out For You has the rarefied air of an album that’s been excitedly uncovered by collectors after decades of obscurity. If you played it to those collectors, they’d be likely to believe it was such an artifact. With only 270 copies made, it’ll be changing hands for serious money among future collectors. And it’ll be worth every penny. Get yours today.”— Ben Clancy

2010: Year of the Tiger

Greetings and a Happy New Year to everyone out there! Just a quick little update to let you know what we’ve got in the works for the year of the Tiger.

We’re extremely happy to announce that releases on our Car Crash Avoiders imprint are being distributed by Time-Lag Records. Time-Lag puts out some of our favorite records, and distributes some of the best stuff around. Don’t believe us? Go check out their website and see for yourself.

We took a little time off for the holidays, but somehow we still managed to finish tracking and mixing our new LP! Look out for “Apple Mountain” in the spring on Car Crash Avoiders.

Lathe cuts are coming…….maybe some shows too?

Until next time….

-The Mountain Movers
